The main finding is that the consumer card no longer exists. The NearPay name covers three unrelated businesses: a Saudi B2B SoftPOS provider that raised a $14M Series A led by Sanabil Investments, a Nigerian virtual dollar card app called Nearpays, and a defunct Swiss crypto Visa card built by Kikimora Labs for NEAR. Only the last was ever a spending card, and it wound down in early 2023 after the NEAR-native USN stablecoin collapsed, with accounts moved to Cryptopay and the team shifting to Mรผnzen. The available evidence is not flattering. The card charged a EUR 5 issuance fee, EUR 1 monthly maintenance and EUR 2.50 for domestic ATM withdrawals, plus a 2% to 3.99% fiat-to-crypto conversion cost with a $5 minimum. Modelled fee erosion reached 1.58% for ordinary use and 5.34% for international use, which makes small purchases poor value. There were no rewards of any kind. Onboarding was automated and fairly quick for UK and EEA residents, but access was tightly geofenced, with New York and Texas rejected and ACH and wire blocked in ten more US jurisdictions. The positives are thin and mostly historical: a waitlist that reached 18,000 users in under a week, 38 supported cryptocurrencies, and GitHub praise for COO Ivan Ilin's open communication on fees and roadmap. During the USN collapse, support was limited to blog posts telling users to swap USN for USDC on decentralised exchanges, with no live crisis channel. Feedback on successor Mรผnzen is sparse and mixed to negative, citing on-ramp delays and unanswered refund requests. No genuine review base exists for an active NearPay card in 2024 to 2026, so this listing should be treated as historical.
