How we rate crypto cards

Every card is scored with the same framework, and the inputs are shown on each card page.

Each card receives a score from 0 to 10. It combines measurable data, such as fees and limits, with judgement on privacy, issuer reliability and what users report. Sponsored and featured placements are always labelled as such.

The four parts of the score

25% of the score

Privacy and data

  • How much identity verification is required, from none to full KYC
  • What the issuer does with your data and who it shares it with
  • Where the issuer is regulated and what that exposes you to

25% of the score

Issuer trust

  • How long the company has operated and how it has handled problems
  • Licences, banking partners and regulatory standing
  • How clear and stable the terms are

20% of the score

Real-world fees

  • Monthly, annual and issuance fees
  • Top-up fees, FX fees, ATM fees and the spread on crypto conversion
  • Less visible costs such as decline or inactivity fees

30% of the score

Community sentiment

  • Reviews and discussions on Reddit, X, Trustpilot, YouTube and app stores
  • Recurring reports about frozen funds, support quality and app stability
  • Each source is linked on the card page so you can read it yourself

KYC levels

We classify every card on a five-step scale so cards can be filtered and compared consistently.

Level 0No KYC. No identity checks. You can sign up without handing over personal details.
Level 1Email only. Only an email address is needed to open an account.
Level 2Email and phone. An email address and a phone number are verified, but no ID document.
Level 3ID verification. A government ID is checked, usually alongside email and phone.
Level 4Full KYC. Full verification: ID document, proof of address and a selfie or liveness check.

Community score

Separately from the editorial score, we publish a community score. It summarizes public feedback in six areas: KYC simplicity, fee efficiency, reward value, app experience, privacy and support quality. Every source behind it is linked, with its tone marked as positive, mixed, neutral or negative. Cards with too little public feedback are marked as not yet rated.

Keeping data current

Card terms change often. We recheck fees, limits and availability regularly and show the last update date on every card page. Discontinued cards keep their page for reference but are removed from rankings.

Affiliate links and sponsorship

Some "Get this card" buttons may be affiliate links, which help pay for the site. Sponsored and featured cards are always labelled. If you think a rating is wrong, send us the evidence and we will review it.
