The core idea works. The card is a Visa issued by Lead Bank with Bridge as program manager, funded from a USDC balance, so it avoids the 2-3% FX markup of regional banks. Issuance is free, there is no standard monthly fee, and the load fee is 1% on the first $200 each month, around $2 at most, with later loads that month free. Freelancers in Argentina, Venezuela, Egypt, Bolivia and Nigeria use it to spend Upwork, Deel or PayPal earnings, and it is accepted at merchants such as Meta Ads, Google Ads, Shopify, ChatGPT Plus and Netflix that often decline local cards. The problems are operational. The KYC step needed to get the card holds many users for weeks with balances trapped, answered mainly by templates, and support is rated very poorly. The Google Play rating is about 4.5 across 82,200 reviews, but recent text reviews are sharply negative and Trustpilot is near 2.6/5. Rollout is phased, so some Egyptian users hit errors and learn the card is not live in their country, withdrawals to some Visa cards in Uzbekistan and Ukraine keep cancelling, and recovering card funds means deleting the card for a fixed fee. There are no rewards beyond a $4-$10 signup bonus that often fails to trigger, and custody stays with Airtm.
